About ASB’s Programme in Syria
ASB has been active in Syria since 2012, working closely with local partners to support at risk and conflict-affected communities through humanitarian and early recovery projects. With the establishment of its Country Office in Damascus, ASB aims to strengthen its administrative and logistical capacity to ensure smooth, compliant, and effective operations across all programmes. ASB is thriving to become a two-way learning organisation, trying to build capacities and getting supported by partners as well.
To support these efforts, ASB is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and committed candidates for the following position:
Administration and Logistics Senior Officer (Syria)
(male/female/diverse)
Duration: 01 December 2025 – 31 December 2026 (with potential extension)
Location: Damascus, Syria
Reports to: ASB Syria Team Lead
Level of Effort: between 50% - 70%
Salary Range: ASB offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage the administrative and logistical functions of ASB’s Country Office in Syria.
• Identify, secure, and manage suitable office premises, including leases, permits, and local compliance.
• Ensure efficient daily operations, including office maintenance, utilities, and facility management.
• Develop and implement procurement plans in line with ASB and donor regulations (e.g. GFFO, BMZ, ECHO).
• Manage procurement processes, including tenders, supplier evaluations, and vendor selection.
• Conduct market assessments to ensure cost-effective and transparent procurement.
• Maintain accurate procurement, asset, and inventory records for audits and donor reporting.
• Ensure proper asset tagging, storage, tracking, and disposal procedures.
• Coordinate travel arrangements, events, and field missions for staff and visitors.
• Support local partners in strengthening their administrative and logistics systems.
• Ensure compliance with ASB and donor policies and liaise with HQ Logistics and Procurement focal points.
• Contribute to internal coordination, operational planning, and capacity building for partner teams.
• Contribute in capacity building by different means to colleagues and partn colleagues
Qualifications and Experience:
• At least 5 years of professional experience in logistics, procurement, and administration, preferably in humanitarian or development organisations.
• Proven experience in managing procurement and asset management systems in line with donor and organisational requirements.
• Strong understanding of administrative procedures, facility management, and local market conditions in Syria.
• Experience working with Syrian NGOs and communities is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of donor regulations (GFFO, BMZ, ECHO) is an asset.
• Strong organisational, coordination, and communication skills.
• Fluent in Arabic and English (spoken and written); Kurdish is an asset.
• Willingness to travel within Syria when feasible.
• Willing to learn and improve.
• Willingness to work not only as an isolated technical person but to contribute holistically for the humanitarian goals.
